I just got hit on the head and realised that I have not updated this blog since Hammertime was in the charts!! You'll never guess what happened.....*thinks furiously* erm, my hands were chopped off and I couldn't blog because I was waiting for my bionic ones to arrive? Nope, your not going to be believing that are you? Ok, I shall just throw myself to the floor *thump* and beg thy forgiveness.....

Truth is that I have been flat out, like a lizard drinking, with all things Uni. I am spending so much time at the computer reading stuff, researching stuff and writing stuff (yep, stuff is the technical term) that by the end of the day I just don't want to spend another minute in front of the computer. Seriously, at the moment I am working on a presentation which will provide an analysis of Thailands HIV/AIDS Policy (which needs to be related back to policy theories...yawn), researching Britian's Policy on Patient and Public Engagement, trying to write a research plan which, in theory, will form the basis for my dissertation next year, coming up with some form of a Questionnaire that needs to be trialled, writing a learning log (yes, another one *sigh*) and outlining how I plan to research a community/topic using secondary data only. Oh, and I am also having to get my dissertation topic agreed (which is proving harder than i had anticipated) and have been advised that my current plan might not be the best way forward but have not been given any guidance on what research methods may be better. Aaaaaarrrrrggggggg!!!

In saying all that...I really must try and make some time to come here so *places hand on heart* I solemnly swear that I will make more of an effort to blog, and visit you lovely lot, more often (that is until I lose the plot completely and the nice men in the white coats come to take me away!)

Just reading all the things you're doing makes my brain sore. You're so busy!

BTW I see those harem pant things are back in fashion... :-)

Molly Potter said...

Eeee Carol...don't feel guilty about how much you do or don't blog....when it's there people will read it, when it's not obviously they won't but they won't forget to look when you pop up!!!!

What is the title of what you are doing at Uni!?!! Public health something??? I hope you get to come up for air soon....and then STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!!!!

Juniper said...

Oh my goodness, I don't think you need to apologise or beg forgiveness!!! I'm surprised your brain hasn't imploded completely.

Best of luck, and with getting some suitable advice - don't you hate it when someone tells you what you're doing isn't suitable but then doesn't tell you what would be?

Sharon K. Mayhew said...

Wow, it sounds like you have been really busy! I don't think you should worry about blogging. It is supposed to be a place for support, not stress. :) When you pop up with a new post, people will come...

Have a wonderful week!

Boonie S said...

You're forgiven. But take it easy, uh.
I look forward to reading more on your blog when you have a little time.

Wishing you all the best with all of your endeavours, Boonie

Lane - It makes my brain sore too!! I kinda feel like there is too much to do and not enough time to do it in at the moment. It will ease as the work starts to take shape....I'm at the research stage so am not producing much which is probably why I'm feeling a bit swamped!

Molly - Awww, thanks hon...reading that made me feel much better about my blog absence!

I'm doing a Masters in Organisation and Community Development...I chose Issue in Contemporary Health Policy as one of my modules (I have been working in patient and public involvement in the NHS) and the other one is a core module - Researching Communitites.

Juniper - LOL...not quite yet but given the fact that I have just been reading the same bit over and over again I think my brain may have leaked out my ear and gone to hide in a corner!

Yep, it's incredibly frustrating!

Sharon - Thanks for your kind words...I was feeling bad about neglecting my poor wee blog!

Boonie - I will attempt to take it easy but I have a sneaky suspicion that it may not happen :-)

No apologies necessary. How annoying of life to get in the way of blogging! ;)

I work on the computer, too, so I know exactly how it feels at the end of the day. The computer becomes synonomous with work and doesn't resemble anything fun at all.

I hope you get the dissertation topic sorted out - that would be super aggravating!

I'm just glad all is well (if insanely busy) in your world.

Fire Byrd said...

Hey Carol glad your still around!
BTW if you have time to go on BW in amongst all this frightening sounding work send me an email and I'll re-issue with an invite as I've got militant about people bot posting on there! But you of course would be more than welcome back

ladyfi said...

Glad you're keeping out of trouble by working and studying so hard at Uni!

Have fun - and see you around.

trousers said...

Lovely to see you again - I'd been wondering where you'd disappeared to...

So you're wading through treacle - something I've been familiar in recent months...just take it easy on yourself. It's always good to see you round these parts, but you can only do so much in a day!

Debs said...

I'm seriously impressed by all that learning you're doing, no wonder you're so busy. Good luck with it all.

I'm now going to go and have a lie down with a cool flannel on my forehead. I've no idea how you do it.

Mark said...

Everyone is being far too nice - you've been tardy and neglectful and we don't forgive you at all. Blog more we say!

Sorry, can't keep that up.... I barely posted for six months, but now I'm trying to do NABLOPOMO. We have periods of time and creativity I think.

Oh and my bro in law came round the other day and said 'anything good to read while I'm on the loo!' I gave him the Wild Party and he didn't emerge for an hour! (Your other readers must wonder what I'm on about)

Stay well; blog just a bit more please.

Jenny Beattie said...

Big hugs to you sweetie. You blog and we'll read (whenever it is.)

Ayak said...

Nice to see you again Carol and I'm not surprised you don't have time to blog!

Mel said...

Come really expect us to buy that story? *snickering*

I perused "101 Excuses For Blog Neglect/Absences". That was excuse #87. you thought you pulled that one off easy peasy!

*going to sit in Mark's corner*

Forgiveness? *laughing*
We take Mastercard and Visa! :-/

(Oh--I'd suggest bubble blowing as a well for the middle of class--at the 'not good 'nuff but I ain't helping you figure out what IS' instructor....pfffffffft to him!....)

Sounds like you've got plenty on. Don't worry - we'll be here when you are! xoxo

Hullaballoo said...

Helloooo, I haven't posted for six months on hullaballoo, and now I'm back. Sorry you have been wading through treacle, know the feeling. Glad we have been keeping up on Facebook though. xx

Carol said...

Talon - I wouldn't mind so much if it were fun things that are keeping me away...unfortunatley it's just because I'm swamped with work :-(.

I hope I get it sorted out's driving me mad at the moment!!

Fire Byrd - I love BW and still want to be a part of it but I think what I'll do is wait till after Christmas before re-joining. I already know that I won't have time to post much on there before that and it's not really fair to have my name there if I'm not contributing!

LadyFi - Yup, it's definitely keeping me out of trouble and that's no fun at all!!

Trousers - A few people have commented on my disappearing act!

Yep, wading through treacle and there is no end in sight at the moment!

Debs - Hehehe, I think it's going in one ear and out the other just now! I'm looking forward to getting some of it done and dusted and then I'll feel much better about it all! (I think I might join you with the cool flannel)

Mark - *blows raspberry at Mark*. That made me laugh.

Blimey, a post a day for a month...I don't think I would be capable of doing that! I'll try and pop in every now and then to see how your doing.

LOL...I take it he enjoyed it then! (although I can think of more comfortable places to read it!) I just love that book :-)

Jenny - Awww, thanks honey *grins*

Ayak - I still can't access your blog to comment! I have no idea what the problem is but it's still there...I tried yesterday!

Mel - *blows raspberry at you too*. Mastercard and Visa eh....ha, you'll be lucky....I'm an impoverished student you know!

Ooohh, am liking the bubble blowing therapy (and as you can see I have employed it at you and Mark!)...and would quite happily blow bubbles at the lecturer too! Pfffft indeed!

Sue - Did I tell you that I finished your book? Loved loved loved it (not had a chance to blog about it but I promise I will)

Hulla - Hey Hullabahoney...lovely to see you and great to hear that your back blogging :-D. FB is great for keeping in touch isn't it

Blimey, you HAVE got a lot on your plate! Do email me if you need someone to bounce research methods ideas off. Don't worry, we'll still be here when you're less busy. I loved Sue's book too, fab wasn't it?

Cheshire Wife said...

You are forgiven. Most of us have far less on our plates than you have and still can't find the time for our blogs never mind anybody else's.

Georgina Dollface said...

OMG, I had no idea you were so busy! And you are doing such important work too. (I wonder what kind of great ideas we'd have missed out on if Einstein had a messing around with a blog?) My point is, don't worry about how often you post. We'll still be here.
Good luck with getting your dissertation topic approved! - G

Carol said...

Queeny - You are a super star! I will definitely take you up on your offer (thank you so so much!!). I've got a three hour lecture next week on all things dissertation so I'll go along to that and hopefully that will help clarify things. Once I have a better idea of what they are looking for I'll give you a shout with my ideas :-)

Cheshire Wife - It's not easy making time for it is it! Sometimes I really wish that there were more hours in the day!!

Georgina Dollface - I'm not sure I would call it important's interesting but it sometimes feels like I'm doing some of it just for the sake of passing my course rather than for producing something useful!

LOL at your Einstein commment :-D

Please note - comment regarding men in white coats is terribly sexist. I am sending the women in appropriate work related attire round immediately to remove you to a place more suited to your needs.... Pub, Wine bar, Spa?
