A list of reasons to run for the hills

a list of reasons to run for the hills:

because you've got new boots,
because that last big heist didn't quite go to plan,
because you accidentally unleashed the hordes of darkness,
because you want to know exactly how loud you can sing,
because you can see for miles up there,
because the hound of the Baskervilles is on your tail,
because your middle name is trouble,
because you'll be damned if they catch you again,
because you're convinced you could fight a bear and win but you have to find one first,
because you've forgotten why you ever came down in the first place,

In my last post I mentioned the embroidered picture I had entitled 'A list of reasons to run for the hills' and the lovely Mel said she was curious as to what was on the list so there you have it.

Oh it has made me feel so guilty, this catching up on the sidebar. I didn't mean for it to be so long until I arrived here, Carol. I hope you've had a lovely summer. I'm still sorting myself out.

Love to you

All seem perfectly reasonable reasons to me, especially the last one!

how about, because you're a werewolf and a man with silver bullets is trying to run you down... :-)
Love the list, Carol - right now I could think of several reasons for running to the hills! xx

Jennifer said...

The last one's all me!
Who doesn't love a fun list! hehe!

Mel (aka Trouble) - I fell in love with it when I read the list and just had to have it!! My fav is 'because you accidentally unleashed the hordes of darkness' *snigger*

The photo is a heather covered hill in Scotland :-)

Boonie - Glad you liked it :-)

Sharon - Ahhh, another one that has Trouble as a middle's suprisingly common :-D

French Fancy - I know that you have oodles on your plate at the moment so don't worry at all! It's just lovely to have you visit (and I know what you mean about catching up...when I'm doing it I'm always amazed at how long it takes me to get round to everyone!)

Love to you too honey...hope your getting settled in ok!

Fire Byrd - I couldn't agree more :-)

Nicky/Jennifer - You managed to sneak in there!

Nicky - LOL...I can see why that popped into your head my dear...who have you bitten this time?

Hope your stress levels are coming down

Jennifer - I like the last one too...although it always makes me feel a wee bit melancholy but I love it just the same :-)

Great list Carol! And I love the photo..beautiful.

Carol said...

Marilyn - They are rather good reasons :-). You going to join me up there?

LadyFi - LOL...thanks...I have a feeling I might need it :-)

Ayak - Hehehe, does that mean your coming up too?

Lane said...

So good.

Besides it's safer in the hills than down here:-)

Talli Roland said...

All good reasons - especially the boots! You have to test them out, right?

Carol said...

Lane - LOL...that depends on just how many bears are up there...and how many I can fight with my bare hands :-)

Talli - Yup, it would be rude not to put them through their paces!!

I'm wimp, I know, but with new boots, it'd be more of a gingerly tiptoeing-thing, rather than an actual running-thing for me. I do, however, always carry stocks of Compeed, so I might consider breaking into a cautious trot, if I were feeling brave.

Great photo, Carol. Now I've accidentally unleashed the forces of darkness. Any other advice on that front?

Carol said...

Wild Rose - I've been visiting but lurking :-). LOL at your comment..yup, they are good tips!

Leigh - LMAO! Love the image of you breaking into a cautious trot Compeed at the ready :-D

Misssy M - Erm, advice? That would be to run for the hills :-)

Fantastic photo.

I'm just back from a summer in the hills and on the coast - and I'd add to the list: 'because tea tastes better there' as do sarnies and cakes and ....

You back to college soon?

Carol said...

Blu - Eeeek, climbing hills and blisters are not a good combination!!

Talon - LOL....I think perhaps we should start a club :-)

Previously Very Lost in France - OMG...yes, I can imagine the comments (School must have been hell!)...poor woman!!

Mark - Your so always tastes better when eaten outside after some exercise!!

And the best thing about the hills is that, once you've got to the top, you can slide down on your bottom then do it all again!

Kevin Mullins said...

Lovely little verse (stunning photo). I could do with being on the top of one of those hills sometimes ;-0. Hope you are enjoying all the carnival festivities.

Carol said...

Spiral Skies - OOOooohhh now why didn't I think of that? That is an utterly fabulous reason to go running for the hills -)

Kevin - I think we could all do with getting away from it all sometimes!! Loving the carnival festivities....went to the market thing on Sunday and the music in the cloisters garden on Monday :-)

Hope your managing to see some of it and it's not all work and no play!

Tam said...

And there I was thinking Troublewas quite an unusual middle name :) Fab post xx

Carol said...

Tam - It's surprising just how many people have that as their middle name isnt it!

I like this list! Lately I've been a wee bit fed up with urban life (and the urbanites in it)... maybe making my own HRTH list will be therapeutic. As I recall, you're on hols right now...hope you are having fun! - G

Carol said...

Georgina - It can all get a bit too much sometimes can't it!! I still can't believe how awful that woman was but I loved your drawing....she will get what's coming to her!!

I think you should definitely do your own list...I would love to read it :-)

Leave for hols tomorrow....cases are now packed and I'm very excited!!

'See' you in a couple of weeks
