Colour Week - Wednesday

Wednesday's colour is Goldenrod.

This is a photo of a small Buddha statue that was part of the decoration on a large gold pyramid. The pyramid is part of a temple in the heart of the Mon community in Sangklaburi and in all our time in Thailand we never saw another temple like it.

This is the famous golden umbrella at Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai.

This is a Buddha at Prasat Phanom Wan in North East Thailand. The temple was built by the Khmer and dates back to the 11th Century!!

Never realized that there was a colour called Goldenrod!

That first photo is just stunning - so saturated in colour.

Wow, these are just gorgeous! x

Ladyfi - It's a Crayola Crayon colour which, I have just discovered, is taken from a plant called Goldenrod!!

Chris took that first photo and I just love it!! I'm seriously considering getting a large print done and having it framed because I just think it's amazing!!

Absolute Vanilla - Thank you my dear!! Chris does take wonderful pictures :-)

I love the way they dress the Buddhas. I remember that from my holiday there years ago. And all the monks in the street with people putting food in their bowls - a magical magical country

Oh yes! Frame that first pic!! Sigh! So simple and yet I could stare at it all day...

French Fancy - It's great the way they do that isn't it!! My favourite is the decorated trees...I just love the way that they place such importance to big old trees!!

Moon used to get up at the crack of dawn at weekends to cook up a storm so that she could give it to the monks!!

Jenny - It's stunning isn't it!! Your not the only one that could stare at it all day :-)

I love these colours, yet I keep going back to the face of the very large buddha because it is so beautiful.

Your photos make me wish I'd seen all these places. I do hope I get to visit at some point.

Blu - The crayola colours that have been selected are just stunning!!

I know what you mean about the large Buddha but I do love the picture of the wee one above!!

Debs - I'm sure you'll get there one day and then you will have about a zillion photo's of big Buddha's too :-)

Your photos are so vivid, I love the crispness of the umbrella against the blue sky. I think Crayola would call that "sky blue".

kim said...

yes, do frame it. Beautiful.

Great colour. The last Buddha is a bit scary though.

Freckled Hen - I was all hot and bothered, desperate for some water and a seat when I happened to look up!! I thought the umbrella looked amazing and was really pleased at how the photo turned out :-)

Kim - I'm going to find out how much it would cost to get a good print done this weekend :-)

DJ - It does look a wee bit scary in the photo but when you saw the temple round it and the view it looked out over....not scary at all :-)
