Ralph Steadman Tribute (BCD)

I have, after waiting 10 years, finally put my Ralph Steadman lampshades back up. I ADORE his work...I think it might have something to do with the fact that it is so completely and totally different to the type of stuff I do. I looked at the lampshade and thought 'I have to do something to commemorate this day' so decided to do a BCD of it (as you do!). So here it is...my tribute to Ralph Steadman

I see a monster in there.

...with a bow tie no less!

Had to go investigate the Steadman man--interesting works!

Oh, I so agree! Steadman is fantastic; I used to love his catalogues for Oddbins. And have you seen his illustrations to Orwell's Animal Farm? Even better than the Hunter Thomson ones. Could waffle on for ages - Genius.

P.S. Try splattering ink with a toothbrush to get the RS effect

DJ - Yup, I think there is one in there!

Mel - I think a lot of monsters wear ties!

What did you think? His stuff is very different and has been hugely influential.

Mark - I remember the Oddbins catalogues very well. I thought they were brilliant...so unusual! Not seen his illustrations for Animal Farm...will go and google them once I've left this comment.

Yeah, I posted the pic and then thought 'Actually it needs some splatters on it to truly be a tribute'...and said as much on Facebook :-)

Funny, I couldn't put a name to the artist, but as soon as I saw your tribute drawings (and yes the BCD!) I knew who he was. Well done!
